Chinese New Year Celebrations and Fun in the Snow

Well what another brilliant week in Broomwood. The children and staff had lots of fun in the snow on Thursday. Thank you to all our parents and carers for making a huge effort to get the children to school through the snow, we know many children and staff had long journeys in.

The school has been awash with the colour red today for celebrating Chinese new year. We have had a visit from a dragon and the children have all made something in school to celebrate the year of the Rabbit. Thank you to all the parents and carers who brought food in today and who came to talk to the children about Chinese new year celebrations.

Chocolate tubs

Thank you to everyone who recycled their chocolate tubs with us. We were given over 80 tubs (there was a lot of chocolate eaten over the festive period!).

We have now passed them onto Chris Walker (Garden centre) who will reuse them for his plants. He was extremely grateful.

Parent Cooking Course

We are planning to have a Family Cooking course each week in school. This will be a great chance for those parents who may have lost confidence with cooking or have ran out of new ideas for family mealtimes.

Each week we will focus on preparing and making a different family meal which you will then be able to take home and enjoy that evening. We will also be looking at different ways that you can use leftovers or batch cooking to create different dishes whilst sticking to a budget.

All ingredients and equipment will be provided and we are happy to announce that this course will be free to participants. It will be starting on Tuesday 21st February and will continue for the following four weeks, ending on Tuesday 14th March. Each session will begin at 3.15pm until 4.30pm and child care can be provided in school for parents who may need this.

If you are interested in joining please complete the form sent via email/text on Thursday afternoon.

There are a limited 8 places available however if more parents apply we will run another course for those that may miss out.

We look forward cooking with you soon,

Carl Bridge and Ruth Taylor

Foundation Fund for EYFS

A little kind reminder to parents/cares regarding the EYFS fund.

We would be grateful for £1 a week cash to help towards the purchase of ingredients for cooking, snack and baking. Fund is also used to buy messy play and playdough ingredients.

Thank you so much for your support it is very much appreciated.

Polite Reminders:

Parking and driving:

Please be respectful to our residents and other parents/carers when picking up and dropping off children. Please do not park over people's drives or block cars in. Please also be mindful of children and parents walking on pavements when you are parking. Thank you.

Payments on parent pay:

Please ensure that payments on parent pay are paid on time. Overdue payments may result in children not being able to attend breakfast club, or go onto packed lunches until dinner money is paid. We are willing to set up payment plans with parents to pay off overdue debts or unfortunately it may result in going to small claims.

Illness:

If your child is absent from school, please ensure that you call our absent line or text school before 9am to inform us. If we are not informed why a child is absent from school it is classed as unauthorised. This in turn can result in a fine.

Appointments:

We require a letter / evidence to be provided for all appointments in school time.

Lateness:

Children must be in school by 8.45 am and need to enter school via the play ground. Children who are late must enter school through the school office and parents/ carers sign in the reason for them being late. If children are continuously late (after 9.30am) this in turn can result in a fine.

After school Club (childcare):

Please ensure that if you require our after school club, it must be booked and paid for the week before it is required (this can be the Sunday before). If it is not booked in advance we cannot guarantee that we will have a space for your child.

School dinner:

We require a week's notice if children want to change their lunch preference from Packed Lunches to School Dinners and vice versa. Any changes must be informed to the school office in writing.
